"Let's Talk"
Debra: Posted on Sunday, August 24, 2014 9:56 PM
America, a divided country that appeals to many around the world. In 2014 we must ask, "how can a group of people be discriminated against, killed and abused at the rate it is?" My heart breaks for the mothers and fathers and loved ones who have to experience such heart ache of lost in recent months. There is a problem that is being faced, but for every problem there is a solution. So what could be the solution to the problem of racism in the States? First, I think that the problem flows out of the hearts of people who are racist, or hateful and unless we deal with the type of people being hired on the police force we are going to continue to have the same issues. The second thing to understand is that people hire people that have qualifications, and can pass the test needed to be on the force and most importantly someone who will be a good fit with the person in charge. I have heard that legislation has to be changed, but that won't change the hands of those holding the gun with the hatred in their hearts. So the question still remain, "what can be done to change what is taking place all across America?" Please share your opinions.
From my heart!
My heart goes out to Michael Brown's family, but as I am spiritual I understand and know that all of us have a purpose in this life, and sometimes it can be the last day of our lives that our purpose is served. I pray that the Brown's can see at some point, that Michael life was taken much too young, but it had purpose, it was not in vain. Someone asked, "what was different about the death of Michael Brown, what made him different from all the other deaths that were unjust in recent months?" There was no difference it was the purpose God sent Michael Brown here to serve as hurtful as it is to bear.
I started the organization The Strength of a Woman because of the very reason of senseless killing but mainly by young men killing each other, and mothers having to bury their sons, or visit their sons in jail for taking the life of another mother's son. I never thought six years later my heart for empowering women to be strong within would be because of their sons being taken by police who are supposed to be public service for all. I will continue to empower women to rebuild their strength from within first, then within their homes, and lastly the communities. There is a lot of work to be done, the harvest is wide, and up until now the laborers have been few, but with the death of Michael, maybe it is all about to change.
